Weekends in the sun
Some things I learnt this weekend.
- If you are going to get a videographer for your event, as sweet and obliging as (s)he is, they will end up in 70% of your photos. Be prepared to see a lot of them in your album.
- 147 group photos in 27 minutes is doable if you have a mother of three at your side directing the groups. Not advisable, especially with the venue co-ordinator stressing behind you, but doable. Remember the light waits for no formal.
- Blood sugar levels are very important if you’re going to spend 12 hours holding a very large camera in your hand. Hands start cramping at around hour five post last sugar fix.
- Putting ice on your wrists when you get home after a day shooting is not a good idea, rather go for heat and two myprodols. The swearing as the ice touches your inflamed wrists will also wake up your dearly beloved.
- The Doppio Zero at Bellair Mall makes great pizzas which are just the thing when you can barely keep your eyes open on a Sunday after a wedding when you’ve only had two hours of sleep, well, you’ll also need a couple of their cappuccinos.
- Friends who are willing to pull a double shift, coming to help you after shooting their own wedding, are worth their weight in gold (or lenses). Thank you.
