“Dear Photographer
I have had a look at your website, but I can’t seem to gauge who the photographer is? None the less, I am very taken by the style of photography, very artistic and somewhat adventurous.” *
and so it went on. It was an email from a potential client and it got me thinking. I kind of expect people who book me to know who I am, or at least my name, the Dror Eyal Photography bit should be pretty clear and I have been writing this blog for over four years now. However, maybe my name is too different (real name btw, given to me by my parents) and there did use to be a bit somewhere on the old blog as to who I am, maybe its time to resurrect it. I’ve always hated those about me sections on websites, the one where you are supposed to have this little bio about how you got interested in photography and what your first camera was.
You’ve got to love some of those descriptions though – X (names have been changed to avoid getting hate mail) is a classically trained violinist who discovered their love for photography while photographing his two year old niece, he now specializes in child photography, car photography, landscape photography, macro photography, food photography, fashion, portraits and wedding photography. Y is an international photographer having photographed Greece on their last holiday. He was raised by a father who was a keen amateur photographer and the photography seed was planted when he graduated from varsity and couldn’t find work as a botanist. He now photographs weddings. Z is an award winning photographer having won best landscape photographer in the Nasaldrip Times in 1992 and 1993, when he was only 12. He has now ‘officially’ been a photographer for 8 years and has photographed many weddings.
This is my first draft. Dror has been photographing for 35 years now, ever since he was 1 (actual first camera given to him by his dad), he is an internationally known photographer with several friends who have immigrated to Australia and think he is pretty good. His avant garde fashion wedding photography has been described as some of the best in the world.
Ok, its only a first draft and it may be slightly untrue, its a work in progress. For now, my name is Dror (rhymes with roar), I do occasionally use other photographers as second shooters but all the photos on the site and blog were taken by me at actual weddings. There are even a couple of photos of me on the contact page.
