Sepia

For some reason it has become standard in wedding photography to offer sepia photographs. For those that don’t know sepia is the brownish-red tinted black and white photographs that tend to look old. Back in the days of the wet darkroom, we used to develop the black and white prints and then dunk them in a bath which consisted of a noxious mixture of potassium ferricyanide that removed the silver while giving the photographer a most fantastic headache.
It was mostly a hit and miss affair with prints tending to have different shades of brown. These days of course its all done in photoshop and we can get an exact shade of brown or red across all your images. The trick is to get a pleasing shade of brown and stick to it. I’ve been experimenting with different shades for over a month now, and I think I’ve settled on a perfect shade. What do you think?
