Platinum Prints

Most photographic studios out there today offer sepia prints, and so do we, what we also offer at no extra cost are platinum prints. I often get asked about them when I show my portfolio as they tend to stand out.
Although difficult and costly to create, platinum prints are the sine qua non of photographic art. Over the years, the only obstacle to widespread enjoyment of platinum has been lack of access to this rare process. This process has been recreated digitally and we now produce digital platinum prints.
Platinum prints have a unique appearance which is difficult to experience on a computer screen and the prints have to be seen. They are amazingly luminous and seem to be three-dimensional. This is a result of the enormous tonal scale composing the platinum image. A silver photograph, that’s the standard black and white, can’t have more than a dozen or so separated gray tones. The platinum print however has up to five times more scale.
Once experienced, it is usually a visual revelation! Most people are affected by their luminosity and gentle warmth, the detail even in the deepest shadows, the delicate whites and the three-dimensional, holographic depth of the image. Portraits printed in this style seem to be alive, even regular photographs seem to somehow stand out, somehow seem more real.
The process we put the photos through is an updated platinum process using digital techniques to get the extended tones.
