Marli and Ben at Ingwenya

When we first starting photographing weddings we used to get invited to a lot of garden weddings. You know those kind of weddings that happen in a big garden, the whole family would pitch in and the entire event would be very personal right down to the decor and food. Marli and Ben managed to turn Ingwenya, a rather huge venue, into a very personal space, completely transforming everything and pretty much making everything from scratch right down to the table cloths (and probably the most amazing wedding food we’ve had in a while). The effect was authentic, personal and it reflected the love that surrounds them as a couple.

It was also our first night time wedding, Marli wanted a candle lit wedding, which meant that everything from the ceremony onwards had to be photographed after sunset. If you want to see a wedding photographer turn pale, just as a little joke, tell them that you want your wedding ceremony and portrait session to take place after dark. I loved it, it gave us a chance to play with some cool lighting effects to shape the light and control it, and to get a bit of a different look from your usual stuff you see on wedding photographers’ sites.

Anyway, Ben and Marli, thank you both so much for being so cool and calm, and looking after us like we were old friends. Knysna does indeed rock, send us some pics.

Not much studio news, we’re going through a rebranding exercise at the moment and its pretty much taking up a lot of our time. Hopefully you’ll like the new look and name.
