Four Years

I was standing outside the reception hall at a wedding venue, chatting to the bride and groom while they were waiting to make their entrance. There was a canvas print mounted on an easel just next to us, the photographer is a actually a fairly well known guy in the industry. This particular photo was a shocker, high contrast black and white with seriously blown out highlights, that definitely didn’t look like the photographer had done the conversion himself. I commented that he … he will remain anonymous because I’ve already upset way too many people with my blog posts, anyway, I commented that he would probably be embarrassed if he knew that such a horrible pic of his was so prominently displayed. Especially given that he is normally pretty good and that this image was in no way indicative of his work.

The bride replied that she had actually considered him as her photographer, no surprise there, this photographer is really well known and well marketed, but that the more she saw his pics and advertising the more she realized that he used the same three great pics for all his marketing. She also mentioned that she liked the fact that we showed three great pics from every wedding – I may have blushed, but that’s ok cause it was pretty dark. Anyway, I was thinking about it on the way home and that’s not a bad record given that this is the blog’s fourth year in existence.
