Copyright
Every week it seems that I have to deal with someone using my images on their site without permission. I always send a polite email requesting that the images be removed, the offender usually does remove the image, but sometimes I get replies which really boggle my mind and range from it costs too much to remove the image to I spent a lot of time looking for the right image and this one is perfect and I’m not changing it. Yesterday I got an email from someone who claimed that she did not see a copyright on my site and hence felt that she had a right to steal the image to illustrate her blog post on stealing wedding images – I’m not kidding.
Since we like to post images from every wedding, and there is no real way to prevent people from using our images or asking for permission, I have decided to publish this site and the blog under a Creative Commons Licence. To be more exact, under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 2.5 South Africa License. I know its a mouthful, but basically it says that if you do use the work, you must attribute it (that means put a link to this site, using the site’s title which is Dror Eyal Photography). You may not create derivative works, that includes recropping my images and you may not use them for commercial purposes and that includes any vendors who were there on the day. Our usage fees for commercial usage can be found here.
So:
catchx2 – close, they have a link but it should read Dror Eyal Photography.
Morrels – no attribution and cropped the images (was eventually removed).
Somewhere Blue – attribution and they sent an email letting me know that they are using the images.
If you do see my images being used somewhere without attribution, firstly, you are the true stalker, secondly please drop me an email.
These images are protected by copyright, no use of any images shall be granted without the written permission from Dror Eyal Photography.
