Wedding Inspirations II

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

Sharon and Barley’s rocking wedding at The Venue at Melrose Arch, is featured in the current issue of Wedding Inspirations magazine. Sample quote from Sharon – “It was challenging to bend black wedding traditions to suit our personalities and vision” … only our clients would be bending traditions, more like twisting them on their heads. Think a 50′s themed wedding with starters of gizzards and chicken hearts while the bride wears Harajuku Lovers.

You can check out Sharon and Barley’s sneak peek or view an extended collection of images on our facebook page.

Bumper to bumper (S<3B)

Monday, January 4th, 2010

The weatherman had promised us rain, thunderstorms and even more rain. Naturally it was blisteringly hot, not a cloud in the sky, and we were dressed in black. Sharon and Barley wanted a urban feel to their shoot, so we headed into Melrose Arch, permits in hand, and stopped traffic. Literally. So an urban feel, a serious 50′s style dress, Harajuku Lovers shoes, skinny ties, Scarface references, traditional African mixed in with high end style. Killer bee images left right and center. There was even a Mbira … it was that kind of day. The sound of the main table getting down and singing along to Bumper to Bumper is on heavy rotation in my head.

A couple of people have asked about my tweet about sharpness being overrated. If you didn’t follow the link, it was a comment on the fact that every week we see wedding photographers over-sharpening their images to a crisp. Think about it.
