Intundla Wedding – Catherine and Michael

Sunday, October 16th, 2011

So it’s Sunday evening, this week has been kind of brutal. I’m way behind on the blog posts, at least the Facebook page is up to date. If you came through to the Photo&Film expo to listen to me talk about becoming a master photographer, thank you. I was kind of worried at one point that I’d be talking to a handful of people, it turned out to be standing room only. There was even some clapping.

Ok, I’m very late on posting this wedding, but it’s been up on our Facebook page for a while and it has gotten some very cool comments. We don’t often go out to photograph the evening before rehearsal dinner/get together braai, because not much really happens, but you guys rocked it. Really too easy to photograph you guys and the retinue, such a pleasure meeting you both. I think I’m just going to add that Catherine and Michael, and their crew, partied like it was the eighties. Nice.

Our videographers on the day were the guys from Freeman Productions who are always a pleasure to have around.

Wedding Collection

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Congrats to Christine and Roger whose wedding was featured in Wedding Collection magazine. Their wedding was out in Intundla and Christine was just one of the most chilled, happy and relaxed brides we’d had last year. Perfect for our natural photography style.

I see that people have been using our testimonials page to navigate the blog. Probably the most interesting way to do so.

Bridal Portraits

Monday, September 14th, 2009

I just wanted to add a bit to the blog about bridal portraits (and groom portraits actually). We often don’t get a chance to shoot them before the ceremony, because … well, because its a wedding and the best laid plans of mice and men don’t amount to beans at weddings. So we take a few minutes to shoot a portrait of the bride and one of the groom while we’re doing their portrait session. I usually do some of the groom and while we’re waiting V will shoot the bride.

Which brings me neatly to the next reason I wanted to write this blog post. If you’ve been corresponding with the studio you’ll have encountered V who actually keeps everything running while I spend my days in lightroom and photoshop. She also happens to be the other photographer in Dror Eyal Photography, and just so happens to seriously kick ass at portraits. Not only is she technically on the ball, she manages to get the best expressions from her subjects and always comes back with images that make me look twice when I work on them. Since we never really feature her images very prominently, I wanted to quickly post a couple of portraits that that V took this weekend at Chris and Roger’s wedding at Intundla.

Christine and Roger – Intundla Game Lodge

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

It was a hang-on-to-your-cameras-and-make-sure-that-everything-fastened-on-the-camera-bags ride on the world’s biggest unimog, zebras gave us a skeef look, giraffes got out of our way, and a couple of warthogs even tried to stare down the world’s biggest unimog. The sun was setting and we were on our way to do some of our world famous veld shots.

Christine and Roger were that kind of cool, calm relaxed people who got a catholic priest with a dog to marry them, insisted on being themselves and decided that you have to go big or go home. I suspect that they’re still at Intundla, still going big, still raising the roof (does the boma even have a roof?).

Ok, some pics.

FAMOUS PEOPLE WEDDING,

Simone + Tim Part II

Monday, October 13th, 2008

I’m kind of doing a million things at once at the moment, trying to get the new site design together and uploaded, I’m about four weddings behind at the moment, and I really don’t want to rush them cause we got some killer bee images, I’m also doing a lot of traveling, we’re in the process of interviewing designers and there is another workshop in the works. So anyway, I haven’t been able to put up as many images per wedding as I’d like, but I was doing some work on Simone and Tim’s Intundla wedding and noticed this one. Don’t you think that Simone looks amazing in this pic … I actually wanted to say she looked hot, but Tim is a lot bigger than me.
I don’t remember how this pic came about, looking at the timestamp it was during the getting ready session, the wall behind her is red which shows up black when you convert it to black and white, and there was nice directional lighting coming in from the door. It looks very classic to me.

Simone and Tim at Intundla

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

Kim and I were at Simone and Tim’s cool and classic wedding at Intundla Game Lodge this weekend. Simone is the one person who I suspect spends more time working than I do. Just really really nice, calm, relaxed people who seemed to enjoy their wedding and having their friends around. Beautiful bride, check, calm groom, check, small children having fun at the chapel and no one minding, check. Car almost running out of petrol in the middle on nowhere, yep, ending up at the local shell in the middle of nowhere and having almost R300 worth of the wrong fuel put into the car, it happened, Korean sports car somehow deciding it didn’t really mind – after a few hiccups.

I’m not usually fond of sepia pics, they tend to be all washed out and look kind of like they’re trying very hard to look arty for some reason. They also tend to make me think of those “Just Married” suitcase pics. Have you noticed that sepia pics seem to be relegated to the wedding photography genre?

Huge backlog at the moment, so just two pics, I really like the one on the right, even though neither of them were smokers.

I was thinking about it the other day and if you think it would be cool to have just married suitcase photos, dror style of course, I have quite a few ideas that I’d like to try out.
