Cooking Dinner

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

ok, so it might seem odd to say one is inspired visually by a cooking show – but I do a lot of cooking, and hence watch a lot of cooking shows – this one is magnificently shot. Really epic, even though I had to look up chiffonade and the soundtrack is pretty dodgy.

Dror Eyal Photography Promo

I’m more than just a little bit shy about seeing myself in photos, and even more shy on video. So I haven’t posted this – its a promo that the inimitable Dave at DVI (our videographers of choice) shot for us to use for a workshop that we are supposed to be doing in the Ukraine. After watching it I think I should always walk in slow motion.

Tis the season to be gorgeous

The one thing that I do miss about watching DVDs is the adverts. Some days they’re the most interesting thing on the telly. Christmas, Lachapelle style, beautiful lighting throughout. (Link is NSWF)

The Incredible Journey

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

I haven’t mentioned any films for a while mostly because I haven’t seen anything that has been very good photographically. I don’t often watch nature documentaries but The Incredible Journey was pretty good with really nice cinematography by Rory McGuinness.

LindyAnn and John at Summerplace

Monday, September 21st, 2009

If you’ve been following this blog for any length of time, you’ll know that I don’t sleep a lot and I tend to watch a lot of late night movies … black and white stuff from Hollywood’s golden age when the whites were more of an ivory and the blacks had a tinge of blue in them. LindyAnn and John remind me a lot of those movies, don’t you think LindyAnn looks like a young Elizabeth Taylor? Summerplace with its timeless elegance was a perfect spot for this classical couple and Otto De Jager Events took care of the decor and event management.

Anyway, a quick sneak peek, and since I’ve always wanted to do a completely black and white album and never have, I’m going to settle for a completely black and white blog post. Tomorrow I’ll post some color images for the traditionalists.

we hardly ever post dance pics, but these just stood out for me

My favourite moment of the day was when LindyAnn turned to John and said, “you’re cute when you’re married.”

Overexposed

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

Overexposed never fails to make me smile, even when I’ve just had wisdom teeth taken out and the left side of my face could use a little less pain. Dark, quirky, whimsical and wrapped in a perfect layer of pop, the kind of images that I love.
