So V and I are back from our super short vacation, just a couple of days off on the coast listening to waves crashing against rocks rather than sirens and alarms going off. Touring abandoned sea side towns that time forgot. Spending our evenings walking on deserted beaches and small braais for two. We even swam, I grew a lot of facial hair which will need to be trimmed before I see clients. Now we’re back to a small mountain of emails and rain and alarms going off and roads that have been washed away. You’ve got to love Joburg to live here.
Not much going on in the studio besides answering emails:
The new season of House arrived in the post while we were away. We’re House junkies, and the new season seems pretty dark.
I got a mail about the new Shoot With Beckstead workshop, where for around R8500 you can attend a three day workshop with David Beckstead, in Cape Town or Joburg. I’m not a huge fan of his work, and I’m not certain that his brand of marketing translates well to the South African context (I’d rather hear from someone local who is making a living at it here), but if you’re wanting to raise your game or just want to shoot beautiful models in expensive dresses for your portfolio then this is the opportunity. Contact Kassandra at swb@shootwithbeckstead.com. oh and if you have a blog or a facebook page then I’m sure they’d appreciate a mention. We need to raise the profile of these sorts of events if we are going to become a regular destination for workshops.
One of the best things about coming back is getting the cats from the cattery and reading Suzette’s diary of their stay. Sample entry: “Both enjoyed their grooming so much. William turning into a real softy! Hamlet was chatting Miss Muffet up through the fence while William asked for more brushing.”
We shot some video on the trip and I’m hoping to edit it over the next week or so, so maybe a short movie in the next while.
Asuka, our fav album company have upped their game and their new upload system is a million times faster (ok only three times as fast, but its a huge difference), and it resumes upload which just makes our lives so much easier. I uploaded nine albums in one morning.
David Jay has an interesting piece on his blog about hate mail.
